Founded 1978 · Taiwan → Global
Test Rite was founded in 1978 with a simple but powerful instinct: move faster than the market. While most trading companies were content to stay close to home, we were already building overseas.

When China announced its Reform and Opening Up policy, the global manufacturing landscape changed. Global retailers started looking to Asia for partners — and Test Rite was founded in Taipei that same year.

Shenzhen became China's first Special Economic Zone, but direct access for Taiwanese businesses was still restricted. Test Rite established its Hong Kong office — the gateway to manage trade flows into China before direct routes fully opened.
As North American retailers shifted from picking up goods at Asian ports to requiring landed programs delivered to their doors, being an ocean away was no longer enough. Test Rite Products Corp. opened in Ontario, California — transforming from a distant exporter into a local partner.

With operations now spanning Asia and North America, Test Rite International went public on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. Not just a financial milestone, but a declaration of ambition. We weren’t a local procurement company anymore. We were building something global.

Test Rite formally entered the home DIY and retail market introducing the B&Q (TLW) concept to Taiwan. The move was the first step in building a home retail distribution network in Taiwan — and TLW's opening created an unprecedented demand for home DIY that hadn't existed in the market before.

Building on TLW's success in the DIY space, Test Rite created the HOLA brand and opened its first store — expanding into home décor and furnishings alongside its hardware roots. As China's consumer market grew rapidly, Test Rite brought HOLA across the strait, opening its first store in China and consolidating cross-strait resources to build market share in one of the world's fastest-growing retail environments.

Test Rite established its European office and warehouse in Germany — bringing its supply chain and product capabilities closer to European customers and creating the operational foundation for broader European expansion. The Germany presence also deepened Test Rite's commitment to tepro, its German-market barbecue brand with strong category equity.

Test Rite launched hoi! to serve a new generation of home consumers — combining high-value products with online shopping technology and integrating online and offline experiences to meet younger buyers where they shop. hoi! brought design, affordability, and service quality together in a format built for how retail was changing.

Trade wars, tariff shifts, COVID disruptions, and port congestion each reshuffled the global supply chain between 2019 and today. Test Rite's network across eight countries was already in place before any of these disruptions.
